1) Do I have to pay for Telephone and Long Distance? Telephone and Long Distance are not included, although a phone jack is already installed in the room. If you want a corded phone, you will have to set up a connection with the local phone company.

2) Do I have to pay for electricity and heating? Electricity is already included in the rent. However, there are extra charges if one has his/her own (extra) heater. General central heating is provided, by law, in every room for tenants and is included in the rent as well.

3) What appliances are included in the house? There is a stove and oven in the kitchen, microwave and standard-size fridge. Tenants are to provide their own pots, pans, cookers (rice cookers), plates, cutlery, etc.

4) What other essential items do I need? Tenants will need to provide their own bedding: i.e. bottom and top sheet, pillow & cover, blanket. The mattress and a mattress protector are provided.

5) Are there any grocery stores and supermarkets around the area? Yes, there are grocery stores (and other stores) in walking distance of the house and the university. Less expensive stores are a short cab or bus ride away. Many tenants make a weekly trip together by bus and share the cab fare on the way back.
